My Life as a Screenwriter

So. My biggest love is screenwriting and video production. My favorite scripts to write are comedies with a soft side (think: HBO’s Somebody Somewhere). Outside of my day job, I’ve been building up my screenwriting portfolio over the past few years, and I’ve got some work that I’d love to share if you’re into that kinda thing! Also, selfishly, I’m sharing it here in case someone finds it and wants to help me make any of these. :)

Right now, I’m in post-production on a comedic short I wrote and directed called Three Arugula Salads.

We’re currently submitting to various grants to help fund our post-production process. We crowdfunded about $16,000 to shoot over three days in March 2025. Once we’ve got our final cut, we’ll be submitting to various international film festivals.

(We were a semi-finalist in the Outstanding Screenplays 2025 Shorts competition!)

I have a comedy pilot called Coasting, which is a workplace comedy inside of a gym on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. I pitched Coasting at the July 2019 Austin Film Festival Pitch Workshop & Competition and I won! That means I snagged a free badge for the 2019 Festival AND a pitch slot for the official competition!

(Coasting placed in the Top 100 Comedy of the ISA Table Read My Screenplay Genre Competition!)

Logline: Coasting is a workplace comedy about Mo (30s), who’s gotten good at blaming everyone else for her stalled-out life on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, but who will have to work out her own faults after returning to work with the fitness freaks at her Mom’s musty gym.

I have a pilot called Mall Walkers that I love dearly and really, really want to make (do you know a producer?).

Mall Walkers is a Second Rounder in Austin Film Festival 2024. I got to attendthe festival in October 2024 with my special, braggy badge!

Logline: Mall Walkers is a coming-of-aging comedy about polite retiree June, who surprises everyone in her small Southern town, especially herself, when she rallies her other powerwalking friends, and the teen from the cookie store, to fight local businessmen, city council, and low expectations to try to save their town’s mall.

The first feature-length screenplay I wrote is a comedy called Losing Streak.

Logline:
Maria (32) spends her days online, obsessing over crime podcasts and failing to be a real-life detective. When she stumbles upon the biggest case of her non-existent career, she'll have to get a clue if she's going to prove she's more than just a fangirl.
Losing Streak was a 2019 Screencraft Comedy Quarterfinalist! 🎉)

I have a Broad City spec that perfectly reflects my obsession with the show’s voice and a Brooklyn Nine-Nine spec that celebrates the weirdness of the Nine-Nine.

Let me know if you want to talk screenplays, and we can def make it happen. 😎
