KMFA - On key. Offbeat.

I try not to keep stuff from earlier on in my career in my portfolio so that my work feels fresh and relevant, but I love this campaign and how Austin it feels. Also, as of mid-2026, I have a close friend working at KMFA and it’s been very cool to learn how much of this brand that we built is still being used.

I pitched in on the rebrand for Austin's classical music station, KMFA 89.5, in 2016. As someone who has always listened to the station regularly, it was super fun to think of ways to get other listeners excited to tune in. In addition to declaring them "On Key. Offbeat.", we found some of Austin's most offbeat KMFA listeners to feature in their new ads. I helped find and capture offbeat subjects and then dug deep to find the offbeat side of the station’s hosts. Below are some of the radio spots, print ads, and outdoor boards I helped to create for this campaign.

My favorite fun fact about this campaign is that one of the featured wrestlers was also my Production Designer on “Three Arugula Salads” ten years later!

Also! We made an app called “The Soundtrack of Austin” and I got to write a bunch of stuff about Austin and classical music for it. Get pumped about it on the KMFA site, then download it and see where your musical journey will take you around the city.
